Process

How a cover project works

Brief, comps, one direction refined, then files for every format. You approve each stage.

1. Brief and quote

You send the title, genre, formats and the covers you like. We ask about anything missing, such as a subtitle or a series name, and send a written quote with the number of comps, revision rounds and a delivery date.

2. Rough comps

We make two or three cover directions as rough comps, each a different idea for the same book. They are meant for choosing a direction, so the images and type are not final.

3. Refine one direction

You pick one comp, sometimes with an element borrowed from another. We refine it: final image, type, color and the details that only show at full size. You mark up changes in each revision round.

4. Final files

Once the front is approved we build every format you ordered: ebook cover, print wrap from your printer's template, audiobook square and web images.

Rights and images

We use custom illustration, licensed stock, or images you own the rights to. Stock licenses come with the files. If you want AI-generated imagery, we discuss the store's rules on disclosure first. See the privacy policy for how your manuscript details are handled.

Have a manuscript ready? Tell us the genre, the trim size and the page count, and where the book will be sold.
