Book cover design for Tucson authors and presses

Covers for Tucson authors and small presses, from first ebook to full print wrap.

Tucson authors

Tucson has an active writing community around its university and libraries, and a lot of nonfiction tied to the region: desert natural history, travel, local history and memoir. Covers for these books often lean on photography of a specific landscape, so image quality and the right to use a photo matter. If you have your own photos, send the original files; if not, we look for licensed images or illustration.

Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving time, so the hour difference with other states changes during the year. We book calls in Arizona time.

How a Tucson cover project runs

  1. You send the brief: title, genre, formats, trim size and page count.
  2. We reply with questions or a written quote and a delivery date.
  3. You get two or three cover directions as rough comps and pick one.
  4. We refine it, build the files for each format, and send print-ready and ebook files.

Everything happens by email, shared folders and video calls booked in Arizona time (Mountain Standard Time, with no daylight saving). We have no office in Tucson; a cover needs a good brief, not a meeting room.

What you can order

Questions

Can you use my own landscape photos?

Yes, if the resolution is high enough for print. Send the original camera files and we will tell you whether they hold up at cover size.

Do you design covers for university presses?

We work for small presses and independent authors. For a press with its own design standards, send the house guide and we follow it.

Ask for a quote

The price depends on the formats you need, whether the art is custom illustration, licensed stock or type only, and the number of revision rounds. Each project gets its own written quote.
