Book cover design for Houston authors and presses

Covers for Houston authors and small presses, designed remotely and built to your printer's templates.

Houston authors

Houston is a big city with a wide spread of writers: romance and genre fiction authors publishing on their own schedule, academics and professionals writing nonfiction, and church and community groups printing memoirs and histories. Each needs a different kind of cover. A genre novel competes in a crowded store category; a memoir for family and community may only ever be printed, so the full wrap matters more than the ebook.

Many authors here publish in both English and Spanish. If you plan two language editions, tell us early. We can design a cover that works for both, with type set for each language's title length.

How a Houston cover project runs

  1. You send the brief: title, genre, formats, trim size and page count.
  2. We reply with questions or a written quote and a delivery date.
  3. You get two or three cover directions as rough comps and pick one.
  4. We refine it, build the files for each format, and send print-ready and ebook files.

Everything happens by email, shared folders and video calls booked in Central time. We have no office in Houston; a cover needs a good brief, not a meeting room.

Questions

Do you meet in Houston?

No. We work by email and video calls on Central time, so you don't need to schedule an office visit.

Can you do covers for a bilingual edition?

Yes. Send both titles and we design the cover to fit each, or one cover that carries both.

Ask for a quote

The price depends on the formats you need, whether the art is custom illustration, licensed stock or type only, and the number of revision rounds. Each project gets its own written quote.
